Good Visual Builder

I used the Visual Builder for a new landing page. It was pretty straightforward. Got the page done in an hour. No code needed. Saved me some time this week. Happy with that purchase.

Decent tool, some quirks

I tried Webstudio for a small client project, primarily using the Hosting and Custom Domains features. Setup was mostly smooth, and the website loads fast. I liked the drag-and-drop interface for the most part; it felt intuitive for laying out sections. However, the responsive breakpoints were a bit finicky to get just right across all devices, taking me longer than expected to optimize. Customer service responded within a day when I had a question about SSL certificates, which was fine. Overall, it's a solid platform for the price I paid on the annual plan, but they could refine the mobile view controls a little more.

Great value for annual plan

I was looking for an alternative to my old website builder and saw the annual plan for Webstudio offered a discount. I picked up the plan that included the CMS and Team Collaboration Tools. I found the price point to be really competitive, especially since I got about 20% off by paying annually. Setting up my first site was simple enough, and the CMS integration works well for my content updates. I also appreciate having the team tools right there without extra cost. It felt like a good deal, definitely worth what I paid for the year. It's a capable platform for what you get.

Does Webstudio ever do lifetime deals? Or is it mostly just annual discounts?

C Carol Davis 1 week ago
They have had lifetime deals in the past, usually for early adopters or special launches. You gotta keep an eye out, they don't happen all the time.

Mostly annual discounts now, but I snagged a lifetime deal during their Product Hunt launch. They do pop up occasionally, especially around big events like Black Friday.

hey, anyone know if webstudio has a free version to mess around with before committing?

A Anthony A. 1 month ago
Yeah, they do. There's a free tier so you can check out the builder and some features. No credit card needed either.

Yep, it's free to start. I've been playing with it for a few weeks now. Pretty good for getting a feel for it.

How do I use a promo code? Is there a box at checkout or something?

J Jeff H. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, there's a spot for promo codes when you're going through the subscription process at checkout.

Most of their discounts are applied automatically if you go through a specific link, especially for annual plans. But if you have a code, there's a field for it during payment.

I'm thinking about switching from Webflow. How does Webstudio compare, especially with the visual builder and CSS stuff?

P Patricia Robinson 2 weeks ago
It's pretty different. Webstudio focuses a lot more on direct CSS controls and the box model, really trying to give you that power without coding. Webflow is good too but sometimes feels a bit more abstracted.

I found Webstudio's CSS properties interface way more intuitive for custom styling than Webflow. If you like really digging into the styling, you'll probably prefer it.

I'm a student, is there any kind of discount for education accounts?

E Elizabeth T. 3 weeks ago
I think I saw something about student discounts in their FAQs. Might be worth checking their site or contacting them directly.

Yep, they do offer student discounts. You usually need to verify your student status somehow, but it's definitely a thing.

Is Webstudio good for making really responsive sites? Like, can I control how it looks on different screen sizes?

A Anthony Scott 1 month ago
Absolutely. They have dedicated responsive breakpoints and flexbox/grid controls, so you can fine-tune everything for different devices.

B Ben Robinson 1 month ago
Yeah, it's really good for responsiveness. You get a lot of control over how things adapt at different screen widths, similar to how a developer would think about it.

Can I host the site myself after building it with Webstudio, or do I have to use their hosting?

A Amber G. 1 month ago
You can self-host! They offer a self-hosting package. That's a big plus for some people.

O Olivia Gomez 1 month ago
Yeah, it's one of their main features actually, being able to export and self-host. Not many builders let you do that so easily.

Can I actually export the code from my Webstudio site? My current builder locks me in, and I want to avoid that.

G Grace Carter 1 month ago
Yup, you can totally export your code. That's one of the cool things about it, you're not stuck.

A Adam D. 1 month ago
Yeah, code export is a standard feature. I used it last month to grab some CSS for another project.
